It’s beginning to look a lot like…

The leftovers are gone, the tree is up and the lights are on.
Let the craziness begin.
(Note the restraint I exercised with the lights this year)

19 hours and counting

It’s been almost a year since the parents got the Sonos. Since then, a lot of music has been ripped. At last count, over three hundred albums . This represents a lot of work, especially when considering the addition of album covers and all the database normalization. As a […]

Happy Turkey Day

Regardless of whether turkey was actually served at the first thanksgiving, it is a part of our family’s tradition.  Weighing in at 12.9 pounds, this years bird is fresh and comes from Diestel Ranch. Presently, the turkey is brining in a solution of apple cider, brown sugar, oranges, garlic, ginger, cloves, bay leaves, salt […]

Doubling the TiVo power

Last night it was decided that a new TiVo was needed. The first one my parents bought, a 40 hour Series 2, is getting on in years. Possibly due to overworking or overloading, the poor thing has become slow and also developed a skipping problem. Whatever the cause, an upgrade was in […]

Spinal Tap Burger

My burger tonight was awesome.
It was the Spinal Tap of burgers because on a scale of one to 10, it was an eleven.
For those of you from the dub see (and even if you’re not), come home and get a burger at George’s Giant Hamburger (aka Giant George’s). Delicioso!

This picture of me shooting a rifle was taken at a friend’s family ranch in Napa on 4/17/2005. The image was then enhanced with Adobe Photoshop Elements. The image was first used as a header on 11/18/06. All rights reserved.

Yay! Good Ol’ U.S. of A.

This tag was discovered while ironing a dress shirt today.

Great, but where in the world are these shirts made?

Well one out of two ain’t bad. So if I want to support the American worker what brand can I buy?
Nice to know that I have options beyond good ol’ oversexed American Apparel.

Mother of all poorboys

Yesterday I was at Lunardi’s Market in Walnut Creek checking on turkeys when I came across these amazing poorboys. Unfortunately the picture I snapped with my cellphone doesn’t do them justice. While costing about the the same ($3.99), these poorboys put the ones at Safeway ($2.99-$4.99) to shame. Each half stood over 5 […]

R.I.P. Tower

Today was a rather sad day. While out running errands, I swung by Tower Records. As some of you may know, Tower is going out of business after years of struggling with bankruptcy. For sentimental reasons, and the fact that everything was 30% off, I decided to pick-up a couple albums. Some […]

This picture of my belt is another I took when at the Lauritzen Yacht Harbor on 10/20/06. The image was then enhanced with Adobe Photoshop Elements. The image was first used as a header on 11/13/06. All rights reserved.
