Take two

homer-d-oh.jpgAs some of you may know, I started training to run a half marathon. My friend Jenny and her sister are leading a training group, so I figured it was worth a shot. What’s the worst that could happen, a pulled hamstring? It’s not like I’m running the first full marathon.

As for my D’OH! I purchased a device made by a major shoe manufacturer that links to a mp3 player made a major computer manufacturer. Together the devices allow for you to track how many miles you run and how fast. When you return from your run, the device uploads your run info to a website that tracks your progress. Well, I left the device that allowed for my tracking at home.

Not a big deal in the scheme of things. But I was looking forward to adding some distance toward my goal of running 78 miles in 4 weeks. It seems like a lot, but it was the amount I am suppose to run based on my training schedule.

Today I ran 4.5 miles, which would’ve gone nicely toward my goal. Unfortunately there is no way to add my data. As a result, I’m going to set my goal lower on the device. I’ll only add the data for the runs that I run by myself. Frankly, that makes sense in that that is when I need the motivation. So far the group runs are much easier. Not nearly as monotonous. At the bottom you will see if I reach my goal of running 40 miles in 4 weeks by myself. I’ll keep track myself of whether I reach the 78 mile goal (see My Running Log link on right).
